Why It Matters

Why CPR Matters

Understanding the urgency behind bystander CPR is the first step toward becoming someone's lifeline.

  • 1Most cardiac arrests happen outside of hospitals — often at home, at work, or in public spaces.
  • 2Brain damage can begin within 4–6 minutes without oxygen, so every second truly counts.
  • 3Emergency responders may need several minutes to arrive, especially in underserved communities.
  • 4Immediate bystander CPR significantly increases a person's chances of survival.

Every trained individual has the potential to save a life.
